Commercial Manager

The Commercial Manager will help drive forward our commercial partnerships.  This role is a crucial hire for us and will play a pivotal part in our continued growth. As Commercial Manager you will have overall responsibility for Monva’s commercial relationships with product providers (credit cards, loans, energy, broadband), ensuring the development of both existing and new relationships in order to maximise revenue growth, improve profitability and enhance our reputation in the market.

Through the communication of Monva’s clearly differentiated offering, you will secure an increasingly significant part of each providers’ online marketing spend. You will also negotiate commercial terms with providers that reflect this differentiation and ensure that each individual relationship is optimised by developing a thorough understanding of their unique business needs. 

You will be proactively scanning the market for new credit card and loan products and seeking out commercial deals to feature them on Monva’s comparison service.  You will also work with our energy and broadband partners.

This role allows you to demonstrate your commercial and business development skills within a growing business.  We are a small, close knit team and joining at this stage in our lifecycle provides an opportunity to grow as Monva grows.

This is a varied role allowing you to work on key strategic initiatives such as business development, commercial pricing, performance marketing and data analysis.  You will be dealing with some of the UK’s largest financial institutions and managing key relationship stakeholders within the business.

In This Role You Will

  • Create appointments, meet with product provider partners (banks, credit card companies, media agencies, affiliate partners, loan businesses), promote monva as a valued distribution channel, and build long term relationships
  • Present Monva’s service to product providers
  • Focus on day to day performance delivering positive trading activity through commercial partnerships. You will have a keen eye on market dynamics and new product launches to identify commercial opportunities and have tenacity to win budget share of these products.
  • Act as a first point of contact for product providers and agency relationships
  • Ensure that Monva has the best possible coverage of available products to present to customers in each of the categories Monva serves
  • Demonstrate excellent business development and relationship building skills
  • Manage and report on Monva’s commercial pipeline using CRM software
  • Work closely with the founders of Monva to deliver the commercial plan
  • Handle commercial negotiations with partners

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

    • Highly commercial and motivated to grow commercial revenues
    • Entrepreneurial spirit, self-starter, enthusiastic, aware of the rigours and demands of a growing startup
    • Demonstrable Business Development experience and commercial background, tenacious desire to find and qualify the right person in an organisation to win business
    • Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
    • Confident communicator – you have the ability to influence and work with multiple stakeholders, negotiate, articulate the vision, communicate at an exceptional level and collaborate with everyone in the business, from the analysts to the CEO
    • Intelligent and creative thinker – able to identify opportunities to drive growth / support our customers
    • Able to respond quickly to issues and opportunities
    • Data driven and analytical approach
    • Proactive at seeking out and realising commercial opportunity
    • Ability to meet deadlines, going above and beyond for the customer
    • Knowledge of financial services industry, particularly of the credit card and loan industry would be advantageous
    • Knowledge of UK financial comparison websites
    • Knowledge of CRM software, pipedrive is an advantage but not essential
    • Flexibility – may be required to travel for partner meetings across the UK (post covid environment)
    • Outstanding presentation skills with the ability to create presentations in PowerPoint that win business
